Text Message (SMS) Terms and Opt-In
Last updated: August 17, 2026
This page describes exactly how Pledge4Play uses text messages, how you consent to receive them, and how to stop them. It exists so that anyone — including mobile carriers reviewing our messaging program — can verify our opt-in process without needing an account.
1. The only texts Pledge4Play sends you
Pledge4Play sends one kind of message: a one-time sign-in code (a passcode).
We do not send marketing texts. We do not send promotional offers. We do not send fundraising appeals by text from our systems. There is no mailing list, and there is nothing to subscribe to.
A sign-in code is sent only in direct response to you asking for one, at the moment you ask for it.
Separately: outreach texts come from your phone, not from us
Pledge4Play's mobile app includes an outreach feature that lets a participant or parent text their own friends and family about a fundraiser. Those messages are sent from the user's own phone number, through their own mobile carrier, using the phone's built-in messaging app. They do not pass through Pledge4Play's servers and they are not part of this messaging program. Nothing on this page applies to them.
2. How you opt in
There is one opt-in path, and it is the sign-in screen itself.
- You open the Pledge4Play mobile app and reach the sign-in screen.
- You type your own mobile phone number into the phone number field.
- Directly beneath the field, the screen states: "We'll text you a 6-digit code to sign in. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help." and links to this page, our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
- You tap Send code.
- We send exactly one text containing a 6-digit code.
The sign-in screen where consent is given. The disclosure sits directly beneath the phone number field, above the Send code button. Click or tap the image to view it full size.
Tapping "Send code" is your consent to receive that message. Entering a phone number and requesting a code is the entire opt-in — there is no separate subscription, no pre-checked box, and no way to receive a text from us without having asked for one on that screen.
If we later add phone sign-in to the Pledge4Play website, the flow will be identical: you type your own number, the same disclosure appears next to the field, and you tap a button to request the code.
3. Message frequency
Message frequency varies and is entirely driven by you. We send one message each time you request a sign-in code. If you never request a code, you never receive a message from us. A typical user receives a handful of messages per year.
4. Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Pledge4Play does not charge you for text messages; your mobile carrier's standard rates apply.
5. How to stop messages, and how to get help
- Reply STOP to any message from us to opt out. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further texts.
- Reply HELP to any message from us for help information.
- You can also email support@pledge4play.com at any time.
Opting out of texts means you can no longer sign in to the mobile app using a phone code. You can still reach your account through email sign-in on the web.
6. We never share your phone number
Phone numbers collected for sign-in, and any SMS consent associated with them, are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except with the messaging provider acting on our behalf solely to deliver the message you requested.
Contact phone numbers read from your device for the outreach feature are never uploaded to Pledge4Play at all. See Section 4 of our Privacy Policy.
7. Supported carriers
Delivery depends on your carrier and is not guaranteed. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
